A modernized pop-art style is incorporated throughout the layout to make it feel eye-catching and interesting to read. The illustrations act as a way to communicate the big ideas from the text in a creative way that will help viewers take away the main messages. One of the biggest updates to the design was the illustration style. Images of real clothing were added to make the illustrations more visually compelling, and better suited to the colourful and playful style of the newsletter. There were also many layout changes made, in order to give more breathing room and make the piece less text-heavy. Adjusting the layout was the most challenging part of the design update, as it was difficult to balance the text and illustration room in a way that would make the newsletter readable and flow well.

The final newsletter balances style and content in a way that appeals to the target audience while being informative about the impacts of fast fashion. The updated illustrations highlight the clothing theme while appealing to the target audience’s desire for creativity and honesty. Overall, this project succeeded in elevating the original design, by improving upon the newsletter’s readability and storytelling through illustration.
